About Me

I am a clinical psychologist with over 27 years of experience as a therapist. My approach to therapy is to try to understand my clients and their world views so I can help them reach their goals. I strive to help clients identify and overcome the obstacles they struggle with. Therapy is a personal journey that requires courage, motivation, and purpose. My goal is to help clients who are ready and willing to undertake this journey into self-discovery.

I rely on research-based effective treatment methods. My training is in cognitive behavior therapy in addition to interpersonal methods. I not only practice psychotherapy, I also teach in the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, where I have been on the full-time faculty for 28 years.

I assure all clients that I will be fully committed to their recovery, personal growth, and self-awareness. I am experienced in working with a range of problems, including inner turmoil, recurring interpersonal problems, problems with intimacy, inner conflicts, anxiety and emotional distress. I enjoy the challenges of helping clients face the fears that prevent them from achieving their goals in life. I am also experienced in conducting psychological evaluations for various purposes.
